In Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), the crew leaves exile from Vulcan to heads to Earth, mainly future San Francisco, to face trial and discover humpback whales which were previously thought to have become extinct. In Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989), the crew departs from Earth to rescue hostages from the planet Nimbus III, discovering Spock’s darker half-brother. In Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991), the Klingon Empire is thrown into crisis and attempts to make peace with the United Federation of Planets.
